The GES officially announced the 2025/2026 academic calendar for all Senior High School (SHS1) students in a letter. According to a letter dated 20th August 2025, signed by Prince C. Agyemang-Duah (Director, Schools and Instructions Division), first-year students are expected to report to school on 18th October 2025.
This announcement forms part of GES’s commitment to ensuring smooth academic planning, consistency, and effective teaching across all second-cycle institutions.

Re-opening Date: 18th October 2025
First Term Duration: 18th October 2025 – 27th February 2026 (17 weeks)
Christmas Break: 20th December 2025 – 4th January 2026
Second Term Duration: 4th May 2026 – 21st August 2026 (16 weeks)
Vacation / End of Academic Year: 21st August 2026
This calendar applies to all Single Track and Transitional Schools across the country. Students, parents, and school administrators are encouraged to plan ahead to ensure punctuality and full participation in academic activities.
Per the above calander and reopening date, parents and candidates are likely to have two weeks preperation or more before 2025 BECE graduates report to school as SHS1 and TVET year one students.
