GES refutes 2025 School Placement fixed cut-off viral news
“It is important to emphasize that the notion of fixed cut-off points is misleading and has no basis in the placement process. Anyone relying on such so-called cut-off benchmarks has been misinformed.”
“GES wishes to clarify that school placement is done primarily based on the 𝗿𝗮𝘄 𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀 of students.” It was stated in the communique signed by the PRO of GES, Daniel Fenyi, on 29th August, 2025.
It added that apart from the raw scores used, other factors considered include:
  • – The level of subscription/competitiveness of a school.
  • – The competitiveness of a particular programme.
  • – The aggregate of the candidate.
  • – Residential preferences (day or boarding).
  • – Catchment area considerations.
The GES has therefore urged parents, guardians, and students to 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, as they are a mischievous attempt by unscrupulous persons to mislead the public.
The GES further assured all stakeholders of a 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 that gives every candidate the opportunity they deserve.
The management of the teaching service and the Ministry of Education has activated the portal to allow parents and candidates to check and confirm the schools they chose for placement purposes. This confirmation process will end on 8th September, 2025.
The GES has confirmed that no student or parent can make changes to schools uploaded onto the portal under their name by their respective schools.
The placements will be released on 17th September 2025, according to the Ministry of Education, while students will report to school from 18th to 20th October 2025.
