The investigation of the 2025 BECE Withheld Candidates, which started today, has 99% of the candidates being investigated by WAEC from Cape Coast.
Cape Coast is in the bad books of WAEC. The council is expected to have a tough time dealing with the huge number of investigations into the suspected 2025 BECE mass cheating.
Per the WAEC released list, investigations in Cape Coast will take place on 12th August, 2025, from 8:30 am.
The problem of mass collusion, based on this list, is almost exclusively a Cape Coast phenomenon. The numbers from Accra, Kumasi, and Sunyani are statistically insignificant in comparison, likely representing isolated cases, while the Cape Coast data points to a systemic issue at multiple examination centres.
During the investigations, the WAEC Height, Accra, will be the main centre for the largest and most severe clusters, primarily from Cape Coast.
Effects and Final Verdict of WAEC
All students who are found guilty will have their specific subject results cancelled or all the results of the 10 subjects they wrote cancelled by WAEC. For students whose investigations are not concluded, before WAEC releases results, the description ‘Withheld’ will be attached to the specific subjects.
Geographical Distribution Analysis
The most striking insight shows that out of the 2158 students invited, 2147 are from Cape Coast, which represents 99% of the invited students.
