It’s a common and tough question to answer is “Can a BECE aggregate between 30 and 45 secure a school placement?” This question has been asked several times online and via our WhatsApp by both parents and candidates.

We have an answer that should bring some relief to students in this range. The short answer is yes, you can get placed. However, placement is heavily influenced by your raw scores, and you will likely be placed in a Category C school.

Other factors such as the number of students who applied for the same school, their aggregates and raw scores, accommodation of preference among others.

How do you know if you have a BECE aggregate between 30 and 45? A candidate’s aggregate is the sum of the grades from the four core subjects plus the best two grades from the remaining elective subjects:

The Role of Raw Scores vs. Aggregate

While the 𝗿𝗮𝘄 𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀 are the 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 for the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), the overall aggregate is also a key determinant. Students with aggregates between 30 and 45 often have less competitive raw scores, making it difficult to secure admission into their preferred top-tier schools.

For this reason, aggregates in this range typically do not merit placement into Category A and B schools, as candidates with outstanding grades and higher raw scores are given priority.
