Don’t Fall for These 2025 BECE Result Lies!

The moment the West African Examination Council (WAEC) releases the 2025 BECE results, a buzz of excitement and, unfortunately, misinformation begins. As a BECE graduate, you’ve worked hard for this moment, but you must be prepared to face a few common lies that often circulate among students. Don’t let these falsehoods confuse you. Here are some of the biggest BECE result lies you must not believe.

Lie #1: “I haven’t checked my result yet.”

This is one of the most common statements you’ll hear when the BECE results are out. While it’s true that some students may genuinely be waiting to check their results, a significant number of students who say this are not being truthful.

Often, students who lie about not checking their results have already seen them and are disappointed with their performance. They may have received a lower grade than they expected or, in some cases, a very poor result. Instead of admitting this, they’ll tell friends, family, and community members that they are yet to check. Don’t be fooled by this. Your friends’ results have no bearing on your own, so focus on your own achievements.

Lie #2: “My result has been changed since I first checked it.”

This is another huge lie that you should never believe. A student’s WAEC result, once officially released on the portal, is permanent for 99% of students.

If a student receives a Grade 5 in Mathematics, for example, there is no way that grade will change on its own. So, when a BECE graduate tells you their bad result or grade has been miraculously changed by WAEC after they checked again, know that it is a complete falsehood. WAEC’s system is secure and designed to maintain the integrity of the results.

Lie #3: “I can change your BECE results for you.”

This is a very dangerous lie and a common scam. When the BECE results are released, criminals and fraudsters often prey on vulnerable students and parents, promising they can change a student’s grades for a fee.

This is a big lie and a scam!

The WAEC result portal is highly secure, and no individual outside of WAEC’s authorized personnel can access and alter your grades. The system is designed with multiple security layers. Any login attempt is traceable, including the computer’s IP address, location, and the password used. WAEC has strict protocols to monitor all access to its database, making it impossible for an unauthorized person to make changes without being caught. Do not fall for this trap.

The Bottom Line: Be Smart and Check Your Results Early

These lies will surely be circulated online, in internet cafes, and in homes once the BECE results are released. You must be prepared to ignore them and focus on the facts.
