The Ministry of Education (MoE) has announced a new and simplified procedure for checking the BECE 2025 school placement results. This update comes following the official release of results for 2025 BECE candidates on 23rd August 2025. The placements for candidates who sat for the WAEC-administered Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) from June 11 to 18, 2025 will be released a few weeks after the result.

The Free Checking Of 2025 SHS/TVET School Placement Online

Unlike previous years, candidates will not be required to purchase access codes or rely on text messages. The MoE has confirmed that checking school placements for 2025 will be completely free on the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).

This change is designed to ensure that every candidate, regardless of location or circumstance, has equal access to their placement information without financial or technical barriers.

Why the Procedure Was Changed

In previous years, students had to use their index numbers and a special access code sent to their registered phone numbers. However, challenges such as:

  • Loss of SIM cards

  • Inactive phone numbers

  • Failure to receive codes

made the old procedure unreliable for many candidates. To address these issues, the Ministry has scrapped the old access code system in favor of a more user-friendly approach.

The New BECE 2025 Placement Checking Procedure

Effective 2025, BECE candidates will need only two details to check their school placements:

  1. Index Number

  2. Date of Birth (as submitted during registration)

How to check 2025 BECE School Placement on CSSPS portal

  1. Log onto the CSSPS portal  cssps.gov.gh/hub/login
  2. Enter your index number
  3. Enter your date of birth in the DD/MM/YY order
  4. Cross-check the details
  5. Sign in to see your placement details.

What would you see in your account if you have been placed?

  1. You will see and download the placement form –  This contains the schools you chose, the one you have been placed in, the programme, accomodation etc. The document also indicates the date of reopening as well as the region and distrcit your school is located in. Finally, it shows whether your school is a single track or a transitional school.
  2. The enrolment form: This is the form you will fill with your biodata for the school you have been placed in.
  3. Prospectus:  The list of items and other requirements to be purchased for your enrollment purposes.

Candidates should carefully enter their index number and date of birth into the CSSPS portal to view their placement results.

  • If the portal rejects the date of birth as invalid, candidates must first confirm the correct details with their schools.

  • If the school’s records show an incorrect or invalid date of birth, candidates must still use that incorrect date when checking placements since it has already been recorded in the system’s security architecture.
