The school selection period is perhaps the most stressful part of the BECE journey. Every year, thousands of brilliant students are disqualified from the placement system not because of their grades, but because they broke the “Selection Rules.”
If you pick two Category A schools, or forget to choose a compulsory Day school, the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) may fail to place you entirely. To help you avoid this “silent failure,” we have built the 2026 CSSPS Selection Pattern Validator.

How to Use The Free 2026 CSSPS School Selection Validator
This tool is designed to mirror the actual form you will submit to your headteacher.
-
Select the Category for each of your six choices.
-
Click “Check Selection Rules.”
-
The tool will instantly tell you if your pattern is Valid or if you have made an error (like picking too many Category B schools).
CSSPS Selection Pattern Validator
Select the Category for each of your 6 choices to check if your pattern is allowed.
The Official GES Selection Rules for 2026
To ensure a successful placement, your choices must follow these specific requirements set by the Ghana Education Service:
Category A: You can choose a maximum of ONE school from this category.
Category B: You can choose a maximum of TWO schools from this category.
Category C & D: You can choose multiple schools from Category C, but Choice 6 MUST be a Category D (Day) school.
Choice 5: This can be a Category C school or a Category D school.
Why Most Students Fail the “Pattern Test”
Many students believe that if they have “Aggregate 6,” they can fill their form with only top-tier schools. However, the system is programmed to reject forms that do not provide enough “safety options.”
Using our validator ensures that your form is technically perfect before it ever reaches the GES servers. Once you have a “Valid” green signal from our tool, you can submit your form with confidence.
Take the Next Step
Is your selection pattern valid? Great! Now, find out if your grades are strong enough to actually get into those schools.
