2025 school placement begins September 17 – MoE

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that the 2025 school placement exercise will officially commence on September 17, 2025.

As part of efforts to reduce school placement errors, parents will have the chance to log into the SHS/TVET School placement portal to check if the details of their wards captured on the portal are accurate or not. This exercise will take place from September 1 to September 8, 2025, ahead of the release of the school placement on 17th September.

Details parents and candidates can verify on the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal will include student gender, school codes, and program codes sent by their respective schools.

The new update was communicated by GES Director-General, Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, at a media briefing on Wednesday, August 27, following the release of provisional results for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

He confirmed that placements will be released between October 18 and October 20, 2025.

“In order to reduce the errors associated with school placement, candidates will have the opportunity to review the entries they have made: gender, school code, programme code, and online on www.csses.gov.gh.

“This will be supported by an explainer video to guide parents. This exercise is expected on the 1st September and ends on the 8th September. The actual placement exercise will commence on the 17th of September. Students are expected to report to campus and begin their studies between the 18th to 20th of October,” he stated.

Parents were cautioned not to pay money to any person or group of persons to secure placement in particular schools, stressing that the process will be fair, transparent, and merit-based.

The GES earlier annouced 18th October as the fate for all SHS1 students to start reporting to school. A release of the school placements on 17th September will offer parents one full month to prepare and get their children ready for school.

Placement Release: September 17th, 2025

Reporting to School: October 18th, 2025

 

Following the placement release, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has stated that students reporting to SHS 1 will officially begin on October 18th, 2025. This gives approximately one month between placement and reporting, allowing families ample time to prepare.

This period is crucial for:

• Accepting your placement: Follow the instructions provided to accept your school placement promptly.
• Gathering essentials: Begin preparing school uniforms, textbooks, stationery, and other necessary items for boarding or day school.
• Making travel arrangements: For students placed in schools outside their immediate vicinity, this is the time to plan travel logistics.
• Familiarizing with school details: Look up information about your assigned school, including its location, prospectus, and any specific requirements.
