GES Finally Releases Outstanding Feeding Grants and Perishables for Special Schools and SHS

The long wait is finally over for heads of special schools and senior high schools across the country. In a move that will bring a massive sigh of relief to school administrators, the Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially released the much-anticipated funds for feeding grants and perishables.

If you are a school head or stakeholder who has been battling suppliers and managing tight budgets, here is the breakdown of the good news released today, December 12, 2025.

1. Special Schools Get Double Relief

The GES has cleared a significant backlog for special schools. The released funds cover two critical periods:

  • The 3rd Term of the 2024/2025 Academic Year.

  • The 1st Term of the 2025/2026 Academic Year.

This payment is expected to smoothen operations and ensure our special needs students are well catered for without the usual financial friction.

2. SHS & SHTS Perishables Cleared

For our Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS), the government has released all outstanding monies for perishables.

  • Period Covered: Funds cover the period from 29th July to 17th October 2025.

Action Required: Heads, Take Note!

While the funds have successfully hit the respective accounts nationwide, the GES Director-General, through the Head of Public Relations, Mr. Daniel Fenyi, has issued a strict directive.

All Heads of Special Schools, SHS, and SHTS must submit official receipts acknowledging these funds immediately. These receipts should be routed to the Director-General through your respective Regional Accountants. Do not delay this process to ensure future releases are not encumbered.

This release comes at a critical time. We have often discussed the pressure on school heads to perform magic with empty coffers. It is refreshing to see Management clearing these arrears to support effective teaching, learning, and inclusive education. We hope this consistency continues so heads can focus on administration rather than debt management.
