WAEC Publishes 2025 BECE Withheld Candidates List Ahead Of Release of Results
More than 1,400 students are under investigation for possible examination malpractice.
The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has released three different lists of 2025 BECE candidates who it suspects might have engaged in individual or mass cheating. The latest released list contains the names and details of over 1400 candidates.
These lists come ahead of the release of the results of the private and school candidates that sat the examination from June 11th to 18th, 2025.
WAEC has therefore invited all students on the list to report to its regional offices to assist the council in its investigations.
In mid-July, WAEC released two lists, which contained the list of candidates who it suspects engaged in some examination malpractices. The first two lists contained names and index numbers of private BECE candidates.
The latest list released, however, contains over 1400 names of candidates who sat the exam as school candidates. Both public and private schools are therefore required to peruse the list and relay the information to candidates from their schools whose names have been captured on the WAEC list.
According to WAEC, students who fail to respond to the invitation will leave WAEC with no option but to determine their fate in their absence.
It is important to note that all parents whose wards are named on the list must accompany them to the WAEC Investigation Centre in their respective regions.
In a related development, WAEC is expected to release the 2025 BECE results before the end of September 2025.
However, the projected period within which the results are expected to be released is 15th August to 10th September, 2025.

Download the list and check it very well. The most recent list is the LIST3 released by WAEC on August 8th, 2024. It contains over 1400 students across all 16 regions.

According to WAEC, the BECE administered in 2025 was written by over 600,000 candidates. The results of the exam will be released on the official WAEC result portal for BECE candidates. When released, candidates will need valid BECE result checkers to access the results on phones and computers.

Candidates who score grade 9 in either Mathematics or English or both will not be placed in any of their chosen schools. Students who have been invited by WAEC for suspected acts of examination malpractice are likely to have their results cancelled by WAEC if they are found guilty.
